Temporary Dentures
Temporary dentures refer to a dental prosthesis that is designed for using after surgery for a short period of time. It is used for aesthetic or functional purposes. They are substitute for missing teeth. They are also called as interim denture or immediate denture. They are made before the removal of the natural teeth. A prefabricated denture replaces the natural teeth. It is inserted in the socket after the extraction of the natural teeth. Since the affected area will be made numb, the patient will not experience any pain right from the extraction of natural teeth to insertion of the denture. Since the denture itself looks like a band, the pain is much less. The process of temporary denture insertion is simple. However it depends upon the number of missing teeth. The temporary dentures generally work well. This is because the bone and the gum tissue that were providing support to the original teeth is strong even after its removal. More Terms Explained here |
