Major Services

Major services are dental procedures that deal with restoring the teeth. Most often, major services are done through making a cast of the teeth. Once the cast is set, restorations are created that are attatched to the teeth, such as crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays.

Some major services are considered cosmetic dentistry, and may not be covered by dental insurance policies. Others, however, are considered necessary for overall oral health, which means that they will most likely be covered, provided the deductibles have been met on the policy.

Types of major services that are usually covered include endodontics, such as root canals, or periodontics, which is the treatment of the bone and tissues of the mouth. Before undergoing any major services make sure that you check with your insurance policy to see if your expenses will be covered. If they are not covered, talk to your dentist about how necessary the treatments are, and determine whether or not you are going to have the procedure done.
