Group ID Number
The group ID number is the number that each case or group is given on their application when they apply for dental insurance. It is used by the insurance company to identify the group when they are using the computer to process anything related to the group. The group ID number stays with the individual or group for the life if the account. When you go to the dentist, they should make a copy of your insurance card. One of the things they use this copy for is to copy the group ID number onto all of your dental insurance claims. If this is not done correctly, the insurance company cannot apply the claim towards your account. This is why it is important to check that the dentist's office has your group ID number correct. Also, if you have a claim that is denied and you think it should have qualified for coverage, check to make sure the correct group ID number was sent in with the claim. More Terms Explained here |
