Dental Hygienist

A dental hygienist is a trained professional who is involved in performing dental prophylaxis when you go to the dentist's office. Dental prophylaxis is the routine cleaning you undergo when you go to the dentist.

The dental hygienist will also assist the dentist in performing x-rays and checkups. In fact, on most visits to the dentist, you will see more of the dental hygienist than you will of the dentist.

Your dental hygienist should have a license to practice with a dentist. Even though they do not participate in complex dental procedures, dental hygienists do important care for your teeth and if you do not have a licensed hygienist, you could find that your teeth are damaged.

Many people are pursuing a career as a dental hygienist. This can be an exciting and lucrative career for many people, because it requires easily obtainable training, and often provides the opportunity to move up in the world of dentistry.
