Continuation
Continuation is an option for any dental insurance policy member who qualifies for COBRA benefits. Under COBRA, employees who receive dental coverage through their employer, and are no longer eligible to receive such benefits, due to leaving the company or reduction of hours, can continue to receive their dental benefits for a specified amount of time. They will pay any premiums or co-pays associated with the policy, and not the company, but they will pay at the reduced group rate. Often benefits that qualify for COBRA legislation may not include dental insurance, but for larger corporations, dental insurance is part of the corporate employee benefit package. In such cases, COBRA would apply to the dental insurance coverage, as well as the medical benefits. If you are going to be having a change in jobs, you should check with your employer about whether or not your dental health benefits qualify under COBRA legislation. More Terms Explained here |
