Completed
Completed is a term used when a dental insurance company received a claim, reviewed it, and released payment, whether partial or in full. A claim will also be marked completed if the insurance company refused to pay any portion or all of the claim. When the patient receives a dental claim marked "completed," he or she will know that the insurance company has done what they are going to with the claim, and they are now responsible to pay the remaining portion of the claim. When reviewing dental bills, it is important to look for the completed status. Do not make payment on a bill until your dental insurance plan has completed what payments they will make on the plan. If you pay, and then your insurance company also pays, it can be difficult to receive reimbursement. It is better to have all claims sent to your insurance company and wait for the completed status before making any payments to the dentist, with the exception of co-payments.
