Safeguard Provides Dental Insurance For Kids

In California, the Orange County Healthy Kids Program has recently announced that they have chosen the SafeGuard Dental and Vision company to provide their dental plan. More than thirty-eight thousand children are served through this program in Orange County. Many of the children have no basic health insurance and do not meet the requirements for state funded health programs. The administrator of the program is CalOptima which oversees all medical, vision and dental care.

The goal of this program in Orange County is to give basic health insurance to all the children who need it in the country through comprehensive health care services. As the Executive Director of the program, Mary Jo Hooper, stated a child's opportunity and success in life depends largely on the good health of the child while they grow.

SafeGuard has been providing dental and vision services for thirty years through HMO, PPO, indemnity and ASO insurance. Currently in the states of California, Florida, Nevada and Texas the company has 1.8 million members.

In 2004 Orange County started the Children's Health Initiative. The health care leadership in Orange County make up the half private and half public partnership of the program. The main goal of the program is to make sure uninsured children in Orange County gain enrollment to countywide programs for health insurance.
