Dental Habits at Work
The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America found in a recent survey that men are more likely then women to practice dental habits in the workplace. After a meal or snack about two in five men will either brush or floss their teeth in the workplace. However, many women reported they found such practices in the workplace to be impolite and inappropriate. However, studies also prove that women are more likely to go to the dentist and will typically go more often. Every year only seven out of ten adults will visit a dentist. Every six months only 35 percent of adults visit the dentist. The reason for these low numbers is because those without dental insurance are less likely to go to the dentist. About 73 percent of adults stated they don't go to the dentist because they don't have insurance coverage. Since dental hygiene plays an important part in a persons overall physical health then proper dental habits is important. So even without dental insurance it is important to practice regular dental hygiene often no matter where you perform them as long as it doesn't bother others. The study also showed that 26 percent of women would be open to brushing their teeth at work and 22 percent would be willing to floss at work. As long as dental habits are performed in the privacy of the bathroom then there is no harm in doing dental hygiene in the workplace as long as the employer approves. |
