What about retired military personnel?

If you have served in the military, but are now retired, you can also expect some form of military dental insurance. Again, the government tries to recognize the contributions of military personnel to the country by providing them with dental and health insurance. Also, the dental insurance of military retirees continues to be different from the dental coverage required by the average customer. Retired military personnel, for example, may have dental and gum problems relating to their active service duty. Since someone serving in the military may have lost teeth, experienced mouth injuries, or had gum problems stemming directly from their service, the government tries to provide adequate dental care in order to address these unique issues. For this reason, military personnel, even after retirement, are entitled to dental coverage that can help them deal with the dental costs which stem from dental problems related to their duties. Of course, dental coverage for military personnel also includes benefits for basic dental costs as well as benefits for family members and dependents.

Tricare Retiree Dental Program

Dental insurance for military retired personnel is administered by the Tricare Retiree Dental Program (TRDP). This comprehensive program, administered by Delta Dental, helps former military personnel pay for dental costs. It covers military personnel and their families, as well as some reservists and their families. Many members of the National Guard and their families are also covered by this plan. Members of the military can get more information about this plan at: http://www.trdp.org/. Through this web site, policyholders can also file claim forms and learn more about the dental plan.

Members of the military do not need to seek individual dental insurance. Special military dental insurance is meant to address the unique needs of military personnel and also to provide comprehensive dental coverage for those who served the country. Those who have served in the past can take advantage of military retiree dental insurance for themselves and their families. If you are involved in the military, you may wish to seek out these voluntary military dental coverage programs. They can help ensure that your teeth and gums remain healthy.
